The Quartz & Silicon Materials Corporation (QSM) is a US-based group bringing the core components of solar cell and panel manufacturing back to the United States: an integrated supply chain spanning high-purity quartz sand, quartz crucibles, silicon metal, polysilicon, monocrystalline ingots and silicon wafers.
Headquartered in Phoenix, Arizona, QSM operates through subsidiaries in the United States, Australia and New Zealand, with expansion planned into Portugal. The group’s majority shareholder is Graphene & Solar Technologies Limited (OTCID: GSTX), an OTC-listed company.
QSM partners with experienced industry leaders, with production offtakes agreed for the group’s planned manufacturing output, and is structured for US and Australian government incentives, including the Inflation Reduction Act and CHIPS Act.

United States
Multiple 10 GW wafer plants, led by the San Diego facility now in execution with production targeted for early 2027.
Australia
A 10 GW wafer plant planned alongside the group’s ingot and high-purity sand projects.
Europe
Multiple 10 GW wafer plants planned, with the first projects centred on Portugal.
Southland Silicon Materials
A New Zealand company developing silicon metal and polysilicon production: the world’s first green silicon metal smelter, powered by renewable energy.

Chief Executive Officer
Jason May is an experienced C-Level executive with a strong technical and business skillset. He has been involved in several publicly traded companies and has been the CEO of GSTX since 2023.

Russell Krause has 30 years industry experience in mining, investment banking, and mining project management, including the purchasing and development of mining projects in Australia, North and South America, Southern Africa, and Southeast Asia.
Jeffrey Freedman has a professional history spanning over 35 years, mainly in the energy and oilfields services industries. He previously held various executive-level and finance positions and Board Directorships.
Terry Jester has deep solar manufacturing experience, including hands-on leadership in solar fab operations and manufacturing scale-up. She recently retired as managing director at Kiwa PI Berlin and previously led Silicor Materials as CEO.
Danny Kennedy has over 30 years of experience in clean energy, including founding roles in solar and climate innovation organizations. He serves on the Board of the Global Solar Council trade association. Danny was the founding CEO of New Energy Nexus and managing director of the California Clean Energy Fund.
Tina Woo is an accomplished finance executive with deep expertise in corporate valuation, mergers & acquisitions, global capital markets, financial modeling, and organizational leadership.
Paul Saffron joined GSTX in 2023, bringing over 30 years of senior executive and leadership experience across numerous business sectors, including real estate, equities and risk management, natural resources, and public utilities.
Southland Silicon Materials
David Halstead has a wide range of corporate, secretarial, and trusts experience in both offshore and onshore companies. He specializes in international corporate and secretarial services, and offshore tax structures.
Kristi Steele has worked in the fair-trade sector with anti-trafficking organizations and social enterprises in product development, sales, and marketing, assisting lower-income and impoverished communities in creating fair wage and fair work for a more sustainable life.
Bill Faulkner serves as an executive advisor to the board, represents the largest external shareholder, and has extensive experience in QSM’s core markets, including renewables, energy, materials, and commodities.
David Hare is a global-minded Kiwi and purpose-driven builder of things that matter. He brings decades of professional experience in organizational design, product development, and digital strategy by delivering award-winning technology, marketing, and creative solutions that drive real-world impact.
